CEDAR 2.7.11 Now Live: PFAS Field Support and Embedded Editor Improvements
We’re pleased to announce that CEDAR 2.7.11 has been successfully deployed to production. This release brings important improvements to the metadata authoring experience and introduces support for additional field types.
What’s New
PFAS Field Availability
CEDAR now supports the new PFAS (Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances) field. Template authors can incorporate PFAS-related metadata fields directly into their templates and instances, enabling richer environmental and chemical data modeling within CEDAR.
Embedded Editor as the Default
The CEDAR embedded instance editor is now the default editing experience in the Workbench. This editor offers a more integrated, streamlined approach to instance editing, improving responsiveness and simplifying the user interface.
Important Notes
Legacy Instance Editor Still Available
For historical reasons, the old instance editor remains accessible. However, please be aware that using the legacy editor can yield unexpected results when working with ROR, ORCID, or PFAS fields. We strongly recommend using the embedded editor for all new work.
Refreshing Your UI
In some environments, you may need to perform a hard reload after the update:
- Mac: Command + Shift + R
- Windows/Linux: Ctrl + Shift + R
If the interface still does not display correctly, try refreshing this resource URL in your browser:

Looking Ahead
We are actively working on resolving the remaining UI refresh quirks and improving the robustness of field handling across all editors. Expect continued refinements in upcoming releases.
In future releases, we also plan to add many more external authority fields—including support for PubMed publication identifiers and RRIDs—to further expand the range of metadata you can capture in CEDAR.
